Department Stores
Debenhams department stores vary in size and character, from traditional high street department stores with multiple floors to newer out-of-town stores based on a two or three floor open plan design. A typical Debenhams department store has some 80,000 square feet of selling space. It includes all our departments: womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie, accessories, health and beauty and homeware. Ranges will be a mixture of own label (including Designers at Debenhams) and international brands. Each store also contains a number of concessions, mostly in womenswear, menswear and homeware.
Department stores also offer customers a number of services including restaurants and cafes, personal shopping, hairdressing and beauty treatments, nail bars and wedding and celebration gift services.
Our flagship department stores are Oxford Street (London), Liverpool and Henry Street (Dublin).
Expanding our department store portfolio is an important part of our strategy. The number of stores has increased in the past two years following the acquisition of nine stores in the Republic of Ireland from Roches Stores and eight in the UK from Allders. We have a strong pipeline of new store openings in the next few years including major developments in Liverpool, White City and Newcastle.
